The Colorado Cocktails are an expansion team, but they are already famous within league circles for their conspicuous ability to consume copious quantities of alcohol. In fact, the team was originally to be named the Denver Banshees, but at the party thrown to celebrate the awarding of the new franchise to the city of Denver, (beating out competing ownership groups from Minnetonka and Des Moines), owner Ben Lunstad's inebriated state and inability to properly articulate his words led to a complete misunderstanding with the league secretary.

The Cocktails plan to stick to the basics.

Despite the generally intoxicated state of the front office, Colorado is considered to be the expansion team more likely to contend for a playoff spot in 2001. This is due to Lunstad's family connections with two other leading MFL figures, Mankato owner Andrew Lunstad and Baldwin GM Dan Lunstad. Lunstad is also known to have extensive relations with a number of XFL personalities, and a large percentage of Colorado's coaching staff as well as the cheerleading corps was hired from the now-defunct New York/New Jersey Hitmen.
